NetDocuments Overview

NetDocuments is a Document Management System (DMS), which is to say: It’s a system where companies can store, organize and manage documents and email. NetDocuments allows users to create workspaces, each of which serves as a hub, or top-level storage container to hold documents and other types of content. Law firms will effectively create a workspace per matter to simulate a matter-centric document storage system.

Being more than just simply storage for files and folders, NetDocuments provides its users with a number of tools to find and manage documents, which we’ll explore later in our NetDocuments review.

NetDocuments is cloud-based, and was an early adopter of cloud-based (web-based) technologies, as opposed to the traditional software model that requires organizations to obtain and manage on-premise servers.

NetDocuments Features

NetDocuments gives its customers (financial firms, healthcare agencies and law firms) tools to manage documents once store in NetDocuments. In this NetDocuments review we’ll cover some of the most notable features within the product.

  • Document and Email Storage
  • Security and Compliance
  • Document Collaboration
  • Enterprise Search

  • Document Check-Out
  • Audit Trails
  • Approvals and Versioning

NetDocuments Pricing

NetDocuments does not provide public pricing information, for the software, for implementation, per-user fees or storage. To get pricing for your firm you’ll need to engage with a NetDocuments sales staff or work with a local NetDocuments reseller. We recommend that you very clearly and thoroughly understand all costs and pricing, including:

  • The cost for the software itself
  • The cost for additional users (logins)
  • The cost for additional storage
  • The cost for implementation (data conversion)
  • The cost for training
  • Any other one-time or recurring costs
