Coming Soon: Permissions & Groups

Coming Soon to LexWorkplace:

Permissions & Groups

We’ve been hard at work making LexWorkplace the world’s best Document Management System for law firms.  Today, we’re excited to announce that we are close to rolling out Permissions & Groups.

Here’s how it will work.

Functionality

With the new Permissions & Groups feature set, you will be able to assign permissions to each individual matter.  For instance, you’ll be able to limit access to certain (or all) matters to specific people within your firm.

By default, each matter in your LexWorkpalce will be open to “All Users” (everyone in your firm).  You will be able to, as needed restrict access to “Only the Users and Groups I specify.”  This functionality is very useful for sensitive matters, or to create ethical walls within your firm.

Groups

You can assign (grant access to) individual users to a matter, or you can create named Groups for logical teams or departments within your firm.  For instance, you will be able to create a group for:

  • Each practice area/group within your firm
  • Firm partners
  • Specific teams, such as legal support

You can then grant permissions to specific matters to groups (rather than manually granting access to each individual user).

Firm Admins

With this upcoming update, there will be a built-in group called ‘Firm Admins’.  Firm Admins, a group made of members that you specify, have the ability to assign matter permissions and create and edit groups.

Timeline

Our goal is to release Permissions & Groups yet in Q1 of 2022.  Stay tuned for future updates!
